Nada Pear Diamond Solitaire Ring

An 18K white gold pear-shaped solitaire diamond ring with a pavé-set band and 1.60 carats of diamonds, from Bait Al Diblah in Oman. Some rings are made to be seen across a room; this one is made to be noticed up close.

Nada means dew, and the pear cut is the shape of a single drop: rounded at one end, drawn to a fine point at the other. Set with the point toward the fingertip, the stone seems to hold a moment still. When your hand moves, the light runs down its length and gathers at the tip, the way the first sun catches a drop on a palm frond before the day warms.

Two slender claws hold the top of the stone and a V-shaped claw guards its point, the most delicate part of a pear cut. Down the band, small round diamonds are set in a continuous pavé line, so the sparkle carries around the finger and does not stop at the centre. The whole ring is 3.682 g of 18K white gold, a slim band that sits lightly and lets the diamond lead.
